Pre-wedding Portrait in Malcesine
Lynsey and Stu initially looked at UK venues, but couldn’t find exactly what they wanted. After hours of internet searching they came upon a small town in Italy with a thriving wedding scene; Malcesine on Lake Garda.
When they asked us to photograph the event we were over the moon. An ideal opportunity to combine our favorite things; photography and travel.
They chose Sarah & Anna from Italian Lakes Weddings to help plan the details, booked a date at Malcesine Castle in September and traveled out to Malcesine in May, to meet up with Anna and check that Malcesine was as picture perfect at it appeared.
We’ve traveled extensively in Italy, but this was our first trip to Lake Garda. One word, Wow!
We met up with Lynsey and Stu a couple of days before the wedding at their hotel. They opted to have a pre-wedding portrait shoot, just to help them to relax having their pictures taken.
The plan for the day. I’d start with Stu and some friends on a speedboat trip on the lake and Angela would join Lynsey and Mel, her maid of honour, at the hotel.
September wedding at Malcesine Castle
If you visit the Italian lakes you have to get out on the water. A speedboat trip with Stu and some of the wedding party was a great way to start the day. You get a unique view of the town and castle from the lake. It really is picture perfect.
Their ceremony wasn’t until 5pm, so the build up was nice and relaxed, and the weather was perfect (not too hot).
After the preparations we swapped places and Angela shot portraits of the guys and guests at the castle before the ceremony, and I shot portraits of Lynsey and her father and traveled with them to the castle in Malcesines famous wedding Tuc Tuc service.
I volunteered to run to the top of the tower to get an overall group shot.
The views (and the climb) are breathtaking. The wedding guests then went to Bar Piccolo Museo while we stayed with Lynsey and Stu in the castle for the Bride and Groom portrait pictures.
Then the whole wedding party walked down the hill together to Ristorante Al Cosaro for the reception.

One word: FABULOUS!!! We are so pleased and taken aback by the pictures, personalities and emotions have been captured perfectly. Now of course we knew that as Jon and Angela are such fantastic photographers, they would be good, but they are better than we could have ever hoped for! They were so professional throughout the day, though stayed part of the group, mingling with all the guests making them feel at ease enabling them to get the superb pictures that have been produced. Thank you both so much
